“I AM THE PHILIPPINES!” , the fully packed cinema roared at the end of the movie Quezon, borrowing a pivotal line from Pres. Manuel Luis Quezon.

The block screening was organized by the Claret School of Quezon City (CSQC) Grade 10 Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at the UP Town Center last October 18,2025.

The historical movie is about the life of Manuel Luis Quezon from his fight for Philippine Independence to his campaign in becoming the first Commonwealth President. It is the third and final film in the trilogy which include “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo: The Boy General.”

The School Director Fr. Victor F. Sadaya, CMF, PhD, opened the program before the movie screening with a short, meaningful prayer. Ms. Rosana Diwa, Araling Panlipunan (AP) Coordinator, introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Jose Victor Torres, a historian and professor at the De La Salle University. A Claret alumnus from Batch 1983, Dr. Torres shared how Quezon fought hard for the Philippine independence but like any other human being also had his own imperfections. The program was facilitated by Mr. Kristiene Nathaniel Miranda, AP Teacher, and Mrs. Marilen Cabanban, Gr. 10 PTA President. The organizers, then, thanked the CSQC administrators, faculty and staff, and students for their overwhelming support.

After the movie screening, moviegoers were surprised with short messages from and photo opportunities with three cast members:

  • Benjamen Alves, who played the young Quezon;
  • Mon Confiado, who played Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo in the trilogy; and
  • Ana Abad Santos, who played the wife of journalist Joven Hernando.

The block screening was a fund-raising project of the Grade 10 PTA Batch 2025-2026. Part of the proceeds will also go to the Mutual Aid Fund of the CSQC PTA.

Mr. Jericho Rosales played the titular role of Quezon. The movie was produced by TBA Studios and directed by Jerrold Tarog. #ScientiaMaximeCumVirtute
