On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the Grade 5 students of Claret School of Quezon City carried out their Unit Performance Task entitled “Gifts of Mercy for the Sick.”
This activity served as the culminating project for their lessons on the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick, allowing students to apply their learning by expressing compassion and care for the sick. Conducted in the spirit of the Lenten Season, the project highlighted the importance of care, prayer, and solidarity with those who are ill.

The event was made even more meaningful with the presence of Fr. Almar Roman, MI, Chaplain of the Philippine Heart Center, who received the gifts from the students on behalf of the patients. All students of Grade 5 Isaiah participated, while the other Grade 5 sections Ezekiel, Elijah, and Jeremiah were represented by their respective presidents and vice presidents.
Although the students did not meet the patients directly, Fr. Almar emphasized that the recipients would not only receive the gifts, letters, and prayers, but also the joy and the love that the students intended to share.

Inspired by the life and example of St. Anthony Mary Claret, the activity provided opportunities for students to develop the Claretian values of compassion and service to others. Through this encounter, the school continues to nurture the attitudes that reflect care, empathy, and concern for the well-being of others.
In the end, all these experiences shall lead the students to live out the school’s motto: Knowledge is best with virtue.
