On July 24, 2025, Mr. Erwin Loyola Taganas, an alumnus of Batch ‘89 visited Claret School of Quezon City together with his family and his brother Mr. Rey Loyola Taganas who is also an alumnus from Batch ‘83. They were warmly welcomed by Fr. Victor F. Sadaya, CMF, PhD, the School Director and the OIC- Principal, Mrs. Evelyn B. Angeles, MAT, together with the Assistant Principals, Mrs. Maria Gresilda P. Ticman,MEd, Ms. Maria Victoria Salud M. Urbiztondo, PhD and Mr. Allan M. Sebastian, MAEd and the Robotics Moderator Ms. Marissa A. Rante.
The Robotics Laboratory and Program of the School received a grant from the Erwin Loyola Taganas Foundation Grant along with the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Lego League Challenge Team for SY 2025-2026. They awarded the amount of 1500 USD, which can be used for the cost of team registration and tournament fees. The FLL Challenge teams in the United States donated some competition parts and robotics kits for FLL competition as a fine gesture of FIRST's Gracious Professionalism principle.
As shared by Mr. Erwin Loyola Taganas, he was inspired by his teachers at Claret School of Quezon City to pursue Math and Science in college, and he eventually completed his academic training in the University of California engineering programs. He worked for a technology start-up in Silicon Valley, for a National Laboratory in New Mexico, for a Fortune 500 Corporation in Ohio, and currently for the US Navy in California.
He truly lives and exhibits the school’s motto, “Knowledge is best with virtue”. Through the inspiration of St. Anthony Mary Claret, he commits to supporting the Robotics Laboratory and Program of CSQC through the Erwin Loyola Taganas Foundation.
He wishes all the best for the Claretian students who will be joining the FLL Challenge Team for the 2025/26 FIRST Unearthed season and looks forward to the CSQC students demonstrating creativity and ingenuity in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
The CSQC community is blessed and grateful with this visit and looks forward for more collaboration in support of the Robotics programs and laboratory of the school.
The Claretians are excited for your next visit and the possibility to partake in the school's 60th anniversary in October 2027.
Marami pong salamat, Sir Erwin L. Taganas. #ScientiaMaximeCumVirtute
