On September 22, 2021 the Grade School Unit held simultaneous level assemblies in celebration of the International Literacy Day (ILD) 2021. These virtual festivals were held through MS Teams and attended by Claretian students and teachers.
Fourteen declaimers from Grades 1 and 2 astounded the audience in the Declamation Festival, eighty-six Claretians from Grades 3 and 4 competed in the English Quiz Bee while eleven students from Grades 5 and 6 moved the audience as they delivered their impromptu speeches during the Extemporaneous Speaking Contest.
With this year’s theme “Literacy for a human-centered recovery:Narrowing the digital divide,” the celebration aimed to remind everyone on the critical importance of literacy especially during this time of pandemic. Thus, the Grade School Unit through the Reading and Language areas in collaboration with the different levels held activities that promoted not only the importance of literacy but also the Claretian motto, “Knowledge is best with Virtue.”
The GS Unit administrators Mr. Danilo V. Lemi, Mrs. Maria Joselyn M. Nullar, Mrs. Hazel P. Copiaco together with the School Director, Fr. Mauricio T. Ulep, CMF, were also present during the virtual events. Announcement of contest winners will be held on September 29, 2021 during the Graders Assembly.
