Confirmation is a sacrament by which Catholics receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Through Confirmation, the Holy Spirit gives the confirmands the ability to practice their Catholic faith in every aspect of their lives and to be witnesses of Christ in every situation.

Last February 4, 2023 at 2:00 in the afternoon, 91 Claretians from Grades 11 and 12 and one alumnus received the Sacrament of Confirmation at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Church. Claret School of Quezon City accompanied the confirmands in their preparation for this Sacrament with a seminar, catechism, practices, and the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Their parents and godparents were also given an online recollection and seminar.

Fr. Julius Jose Coching, CMF, the Parish Priest of IHMP was delegated by the local ordinary to do the laying on of hands and anointing of Chrism to the candidates.

In his homily, Fr. Jay reminded the young Claretians that as they live as mature Christians with the gifts of the Holy Spirit they will have to face life’s challenges with courage and fortitude. He also encouraged them to share their wisdom, knowledge and understanding to those people who ask for their counsel; to show to their families and to the world their piety and to always return to the Lord with their prayers. Fr. Jay also added that fear of God will always draw them closer to Him.

As his final message, Fr. Jay prayed for the confirmands that as they receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit, may they present to the world these gifts, share and make use of these gifts in service to others so that Christ may be revealed.

Joining the Claretians and their families and godparents during the liturgical celebration were members of the school administration, advisers, some members of the faculty, and Claretian Missionaries. #ScientiaMaximeCumVirtute
