Three Claretian alumni took part in the recently held Grade 11 Career Talk Online. Joining the Grade 11 students last March 1, 2021 via MS Teams Meeting, Dr. Giancarlo R. Europa, a Spine and Orthopaedic Surgeon from HS Batch 1999, talked about the Medicine profession. Law and Architecture were explored with Atty. Marc Angelo S. Virtucio, a Lawyer-Architect from HS Batch 2005. Mr. John Paul Lanot, a successful Restaurateur from HS Batch 1999, shared his life experiences on Business.

Spearheaded by the Grade 11 PTA and the Student Development Center, the said activity led the students in Grade 11 to a reflection on possible options for future commitments to serve the country and the world.

The said activity was a learning opportunity for the Claretian students to prepare themselves for College and for their career paths. While students are given the motivation to study well for the future, they are also given insights on values they have to embrace as they create their personal vision. The support that the students need from their parents and their elder Claretian brothers was evident through this activity thus inspiring the young Claretians reach their career goals with hope.

Despite the challenges and limitations brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, Batch 1995 stayed strong in spirit and virtually gathered with some of their batchmates and some of their former teachers to celebrate their silver jubilee this year. This coincided with the celebration of Claret School of Quezon City’s 53 Foundation Anniversary.

Their online celebration included a slideshow of class pictures from their elementary days to high school years to the tune of the classic Claret School March. [video link]During the gathering, Atty. Joseph Marion P. Navarrete, the representative of Batch 95, addressed the Claretian Alumni Community especially in gratitude to their former Claretian teachers. In the face of the world pandemic, Batch 95 also affirmed the Claretian spirit of resiliency and resourcefulness that keep the members of the alumni dauntless.  During the turn-over rites, the key of responsibility was handed over to Batch 96, the next host of CSQC’s Grand Alumni Homecoming in 2021. [video link]

As a highlight of their gathering, the song “Salamat” by the band The Dawn, which is an iconic anthem for the Jubilarian batch, was played and sung. The song delivers a message of a strong bond of friendship which is one of the characteristics of Batch 95. With “Salamat”, the musicians, hobbyists and professionals of Batch 95 gave a heartfelt tribute to their friends and fellow batchmates who are frontliners, and to all the teachers and support staff of Claret School of Quezon City.
