CLARET HIGH SCHOOL BADMINTON TEAM WINS MILO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP


The Claret School of Quezon City High School Badminton Team won the  National Finals of the Milo Little Olympics held at Lingayen, Pangasinan on November 18-20, 2011.


The student athletes represented the National Capital Region Boys Division in the Secondary Level and bested their counterparts  from the regions of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, distinguishing them as the best in the country for Badminton  this year.  The team  is composed of Anthony Chen, Mark Dela Rama, Edrickson Malibiran, Miguel San Andres and Paolo Santos.  They are led by head coach Theody Punay and assistant coach Edzel Delgado.

Milo first launched the Little Olympics in Manila in 1988, expanding to Cebu in 1996, Cagayan de Oro in 1997, and Pangasinan in 1998.  The first National Finals were held in Cebu on October 23, 2009.   The Little Olympics involves 11 sports:  athletics, badminton, chess, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball.  It is known as a premier junior  league that has discovered athletes that have later represented the Philippines in international competitions like the South East Asian Games, the World Youth Cup, and the Asian Junior Track meet.
