SCIENTIA MAXIME CUM VIRTUTE
MESSAGE
GRAND
ALUMNI HOMECOMING
2011: “86 turns 25”
October
15, 2011
So, we ask: Where have the
lives of the alumni led? Have knowledge learned with virtue led to
virtuous
lives? How have the school and its alumni helped in shaping this world?
Has the
school been successful in its mission?
Many things have changed
in the school through its 44 years of existence. However, one thing
remains
unchanged: the core values upon which the school is founded and the
values it
imparts to its students. Scientia Maxime Cum Virtute. Knowledge is best
with
virtue. Indeed, life can only be lived well with virtue.
In the 1974 yearbook, Fr.
Santiago Gonzalez wrote the following message:
“Life
is to be lived as
service.
That
you bring the work of
God to perfection,
that
you do good to your
fellowmen,
that
you are signs of
love, of help to your fellowmen,
that
you strive always to
be something,
that
you strive to do
something with the help of God
as
you develop and grow in
your human abilities.
Respect
all your great men
– Rizal, Mabini, Bonifacio – who have actualized this ideal and have
devoted
their lives to a cause that is great. Thoughts direct the world and
also guide
the will. Let the thoughts that I have just mentioned above be a guide
for you.
Put them to the test of your mind. Don’t drift. Cultivate what ennobles
and
makes you better.”
Today, as before, these
words still ring true. They still mean the same. But somehow sound more
profound today. Today, as before, one could interpret these words as a
beacon,
a guiding light in a Claretian’s continuing journey in life to become
truly men
of CHEERS – Compassion,
Humility, Empowerment, Excellence,
Respect for life
and Service –
and men who will bring
cheers into other people’s lives.
Tonight, we gave
recognition to alumni who have supported the school by providing scholarships. Hopefully,
more batches will
follow in the fine example of HS
Batch
1976, Tony, Ted, and Albert Jan whose concern and service extends in
their
desire to share the Claretian education to the less fortunate ones. It
is our
hope that through the scholarship, the dream of our less privileged
brothers to
make their lives a little better will come to reality…
After 44 years of
existence and with thousands and thousands and thousands of graduates,
Claret
School of Quezon City has hopefully succeeded in fulfilling its vision
and mission.
Hopefully, the lives of its alumni are shining testimony of the Claret
education.
On behalf of the school
administrators, the teaching and non-teaching personnel, and this
year’s
homecoming host HS Class of 1986, THANK YOU so much for celebrating
with us. We
look forward to seeing you in next year’s homecoming on October 14,
2012. The
year 2012 will be Claret School of Quezon City’s 45th
year
foundation anniversary.
Thank you.

Hi, my dear Claretians…
It’s 2011, how time really flies!
The GRAND ALUMNI HOMECOMING 2010: Nanunumbalik sa Pagbabalik last October 16 was a blast. It was hosted by High School Batch 1985, this year’s Silver Jubilarians. Registration of all alumni from high school batches 1975 to 2010 was at 1:00 PM; followed by a football exhibition among the batches at 3:00 PM. The Eucharistic Celebration was concelebrated by Fr Santiago Gonzalez, CMF (presently the school’s Spiritual Director) and Fr. Renato Manubag, CMF (the School Director). The Dinner Program was at 6:00 o’clock in the evening which was attended by previous teachers of the alumni.
A High School Career Symposium: Big Brothers at Work was held last November 9 at the Audio-Visual Room where a number of our Claret Alumni served as resource persons. Their sharing with the Third Year students about their college experiences, career challenges and how the Claretian education has helped them become the persons that they are now left a positive impact and inspiration to our Juniors.
The school had a Medical-Dental Mission last December 19 at the school gym. Recipients were children of the school’s urban community partners (Claret Urban Poor Apostolate). Dr Darwin Diampo Lim of HS 1987 brought his UE College of Dentistry Dental Health Team to assist us in the Dental Mission. Some alumni and parents assisted in the Medical Mission. Ronald Ramirez of HS 1985 brought his Culinary Arts students to help in preparing the food. A number of alumni sent in medicine donations which were distributed to the children. Teachers and the non-teaching staff were also around to give an extra hand.
I have posted pictures of both activities in my Claret alumni FACEBOOK account: LUT CARLOS. Check it out…!
Always,
Ms. Lut Carlos
